We are Sheldon and Faye Tessler, together we took over Hanham Opticians in November 2010. With our team we are trying to change the concept of what a visit to an Opticians should be by combining traditional quality, great service and value for money with cutting edge technology. 

 

We aim to make each individual patient feel welcome with a warm and friendly smile from all the team so in reception you will find a coffee machine which is free for all our patients. We have three children of our own so have tried to offer our younger visitors the experience we would have appreciated – so as well as colouring and dot-to-dot we also offer a Hanham Eyecare yoyo and a selection of sweets, lollies and drinks 

 

 

We believe in investing in the future of our practice and our patient's eye health by making sure we remain updated with all the latest equipment to assist our optometrist in the process of a full eye examination. We are now proud to announce the arrival of the most recent optical technology: the Icare - perfect if you don't like the Puff of air whilst having your Examination! 

 

The Icare® tonometer is based on a new measuring principle, in which a very light probe is used to make momentary contact with the cornea.  

 

The measurement is barely noticed by the patient and often does not even cause corneal reflex. For ophthalmologists this is good news, because the device not only makes IOP measuring a more pleasant experience on all patients, it is also an important break-through for succeeding with non-compliant patients (e.g. children and dementia patients).  

Requiring no drops, neither specialized skills for its use the quick and painless Icare® tonometry has an important role in glaucoma screening programs of masses.
